packed bed scrubber

HAS.CO packed bed scrubbers are multipurpose, reliable systems that serve the widest variety of processes. They are used and specified worldwide.

HAS.CO packed scrubbers are highly recommended for the efficient removal of inorganic gases, odors and fumes, and are particularly appropriate where gas streams have extreme ph.

Optimum system performance is achieved with systems that combine intimate gas/liquid mixing and low pressure drop.

Design option:

Single-Stage Vertical Flow:
These units are applied to inorganic scrubbing .This includes a multitude of chemical processes, metal finishing and Semiconductor applications. This also includes certain odor control systems (such as light inputs of ammonia or Sulfur-based compounds) that are accommodated with a single-stage process.

Two-Stage Vertical Flow:
These systems use two independent columns, operating in series. Columns can operate with identical chemistry, or more typically, use two different chemical processes. An example is ammonia combined with other acids, which requires one stage for primary removal using sulfuric acid, and a second stage operating as a caustic scrubber.
This design can be used in many other applications that require dual chemistries to destroy contaminants.

Multi-Stage Scrubbers (NOx):
In this equipment design, HSA includes three or more scrubber stages.
This design, which handles NOx, (NO+NO2) in any ratio. The primary application of this the removal of NOx from gas streams where other contaminants co-mingle with NOx.

HAS.CO manufactures wet scrubbers for flow volumes from 1,000 m³ to 200,000 m³ per hour.

As standard, we equip our round wet scrubbers with three different systems to discharge sludge. We can, however, also design special solution

Venturi scrubber

Designed to suit any process gas requiring particulate removal, the HSA Venturi Scrubber’s classic single venturi design offers maximum scrubber efficiency.
Venturi Scrubbers are used in metalworking, in foundries, in the construction industry, in the mineral processing industry; everywhere, where difficult dusts have to be extracted. Our wet scrubbers perform very well under extreme conditions: if dust is sticky or very moist; if hybrid mixtures occur; if dust contains a lot of sparks; if vapors and mists have to be cleaned of solid particles. Also, if materials are processed where there is a risk of explosion, but fabric filter plants cannot and may not be used.

Operation:

The design of the HSA Venturi Scrubber consists of a “wet approach” venturi, followed by a liquid entrainment separator. Dust laden gases enter the venturi and instantly make contact with the tangentially introduced scrubbing liquid swirling down the venturi’s converging walls. At the venturi throat, the gas and liquid streams collide and the liquid breaks down into droplets which trap dust particles.
This gas/liquid mixture passes through a flooded elbow, and enters the entrainment separator through a tangential inlet. Centrifugal action removes the heavy wetted particles from the gas stream.
As an alternate, when very large diameter separators are required, the liquid is separated by passing the stream through a chevron-type mist eliminator baffle. The dust/liquid mixture is discharged from the separator bottom drain and the cleaned gas leaves through the top of the separator.

Features:

•    Up to 99%+ collection efficiency into submicron range
•    Pressure drops from 2.5 - 15 k Pa
•    Adjustable venturi throat (manual or automatic)
•    Liquid distribution by open pipes rather than nozzles
•    Slurries with high solids can be recycled
•    Handles high inlet gas temperatures
•    Virtually maintenance free

Sample Applications:

•    Lime kilns
•    Dryers
•    Foundries
•    Shredders
•    Minerals & mining (center photo above shows HSA Venturi Scrubber on autoclave vent for gold mining operation and rightmost photo shows four high efficiency HSA Venturi Scrubbers venting a tertiary crushing circuit at a copper concentrator)

Scrubber

Our wet scrubbers perform very well under extreme conditions: if dust is sticky or very moist; if hybrid mixtures occur; if dust contains a lot of sparks; if vapors and mists have to be cleaned of solid particles. Also, if materials are processed where there is a risk of explosion, but fabric filter plants cannot and may not be used. A prerequisite is, however, that the solid particles can be wetted. If the requirements of the clean gas are high, the use of wet scrubbers is somewhat restricted.

Cyclone&Multi cyclone

The Cyclone & Multi-Cyclone is a separator that uses centrifugal force to purify air loaded with chips or dust. Its performance depends on the rotation speed, density and grading of particles. Cyclones are available with a wide range of accessories.

•    Efficiency approx. 90% for particles above 15 micron.
•    Higher efficiency for large particles.
•    Built in 3 and 8 mm thick steel sheet depending on the size.

Theoretically, high-collection efficiencies are achieved with this smaller 6" or 9" diameter tubes, since the centrifugal force applied to the dust particles increases as the tube diameter decreases. Three other major design factors also significantly affect collection efficiency, namely proper gas distribution, draft loss, and particle size/specific gravity.

A collector consists of a housing containing a quantity of collecting tube assemblies, each an individual centrifugal dust collector.
Dust laden gas enters the top of the collecting tube through the inlet guide vanes. These vanes impart a smooth, fast spiral to the gas, setting up a highly centrifugal action with a minimum of turbulence and erosion.

Fields of application:

Gas
Rockwool
Bagasse
Lime dust
Glass beads
Sludge
Coke calciner
Sulfur dust
Sinter dust
Feldspar
Clinker cooler dust
Iron ore pellets/dust
Rice hulls
Petroleum coke
Sulfite
Wood waste/bark (various types)
Coal (various types)
Miscellaneous refuse

Today, we predominantly use Multi-Cyclone separators when dealing with large amounts of material, as a primary separator for exhaust and filter systems, or even to separate sparks or droplets. They work without additional cleaning technology using centrifugal separation. They function reliably, are low maintenance and are insensitive to irregular material flow. They are well known for their robust operation.

To achieve optimum separation efficiency, various models allow an adjustment to each set of operational circumstances (flow volume and level of material).

For customer-specific solutions, HAS.CO offers solidly built Multi-Cyclone separators made of a variety of materials. On request they will be designed to be pressure-shock-resistant or can be supplied with wear protection.

Axial Cyclone

The Axial-Cyclone is a Compact and energy efficient solution for particle separation.

Features:

Axial-Cyclone used for the separation of particles from a gaseous phase are characterized, compared to standard reverse flow cyclones, by its compactness and a low energy consumption. Benefits may result from the compact design and the low pressure drop which gives plant operators the possibility of easy implementation in existing piping systems. The used swirl generator consists of several curved blades circular arranged around a cylindrical core.

A centrifugal separator which operates according to the cyclone principle. It can be used to separate solid particulate phase from a gas stream.

Building space-saving, due to simplified duct routing compared to typical reverse flow cyclones.
Low pressure drop compared to standard cyclones.

Due to Axial-Cyclone operation and implementation of additional dedicated pressure drop reducing measures downstream of the cyclone.

In-line cyclones can be retrofitted in existing piping systems easily.
Implementation in horizontal and vertical lines with axial or tangential swirl generators provides highest flexibility.

Fields of application:

Dry separator for medium-size dust.
In combination with a scrubber for the removal of fine dusts and gaseous components also applicable.
As Pre-separator (spark and hot particle).

For customer-specific solutions, HAS.CO offers solidly built Axial-Cyclone separators made of a variety of materials. On request they will be designed to be pressure-shock-resistant or can be supplied with wear protection.
